We can now realize that their apparent plurality (just as that of the isolated groups of cells that are formed in a living tissue that is healing) soon joins up and fuses together when it is seen as part of the coherent and integral picture of a universe that is in full process of being made organic.
For every modern mind (and the more modern the mind, the truer this is) there has emerged, never to disappear, the consciousness—there has been born the sense—of a universal, absolutely specific movement, in virtue of which the totality of things is shifting, integrally and as one whole, from top to bottom, not simply within space and time, but in a (hyper-Einsteinian) space-time whose special bias is to introduce an ever higher degree of arrangement into that which moves within it.
Here we have the most sensational threshold crossed by man’s consciousness in the million years for which it has been reflecting upon itself on the surface of the earth.
Matter becoming charged with spirit: surely, that is indeed the most general, the most all-embracing, and the most fruitful expression for our experience of the universal operation in which we are involved.
An energy that has the power to embrace, in their full extension, the plurality of thinking planets engedered by the evolution of sidereal matter; or at the very least an energy that is capable of exhaustively ‘activating’ the totality of the psychic potential involved, on our earth, in the great venture of anthropogenesis.
Starting with man (that is, under the increasingly powerful governance of auto-evolution), a new type of driving force—by which I mean the reasoned passion for progress—emerges as ever more physically indispensable to ensure the continuation and the ultimate success of the cosmic movement of complexification.
Love of evolution: a phrase that was meaningless a mere fifty years ago: and yet an expression of the only psychic factor capable, it would seem, of carrying to its term the effort of planetary self-arrangement on which depends the cosmic success of mankind.
A new vision of the universe calls for a new form of worship and a new method of action.
